Family Support is an instrumental part of Habitat's goal aimed at the development and empowerment of persons and communities. The goal is to help families break the poverty cycle and become independent homeowners. The family supporter seeks to welcome new families into the larger Habitat family and provide them with friends, a mutual support system, educational opportunities, and an open forum for discussions pertaining to Habitat homeownership. A key part of being a family supporter is working one-on-one with the families and serving as a direct link between the family and Habitat. Family Support requires 10 to 15 hours a month for a 1 year time period. |
