Habitat's family selection process is one of the most important tasks an affiliate undertakes. It produces Habitat's most valuable resource, the homeowner. The integrity and credibility of the Habitat project depends on a fair, objective and nondiscriminatory family selection policy and process. Family selection volunteers must work within the Habitat criteria and legal standard set forth by the Federal Equal Credit Opportunity Act and the Fair Housing Act. Family Selection requires 10 to 15 hours a month for a 5 month period.
